World's Biggest Lesson
In 2000, world leaders - including Australia's - committed to a set of goals and targets to end global poverty and make the world a better place. Central to these are the Education for All goals signed by over 180 countries in Dakar.
The goals to be realised by 2015 include:
- Expand early childhood care and education
- Provide free and compulsory education for all
- Promote learning and life skills for young people and adults
- Increase adult literacy by 50%
- Achieve gender parity by 2005
- Improve the quality of education
You can help make these goals a reality by joining with million of children, teachers, campaigners and politicians in the World's Biggest Lesson on the 23rd April, 2008. If 23rd April happens to fall within holidays in your state you can still participate in the World's Biggest Lesson by running it before or after the date.
