Disaster and Famine Relief Offering

In 2007, ADRA brought hope, healing and relief to more than 400,000 disaster survivors. From mudslides to fires, from earthquakes to civil unrest, ADRA was there.

Last year alone, ADRA Australia responded to disasters in Australia and overseas; including the Solomon Islands tsunami, the floods in Nepal, droughts in Queensland and many more. Oftentimes ADRA turns to our Disaster and Famine Relief Fund during these crises to provide immediate relief and support to those affected. However, your continued support is needed to help replenish the fund to enable ADRA to provide future assistance.

The annual Disaster and Famine Relief Offering will be collected in Seventh-day Adventist churches on 24 May 2008.  Your donations enable ADRA Australia to continue providing food, medical aid, emergency relief and development assistance to those in crisis.

How you can help?

ADRA has prepared special tools to help you promote the Disaster and Famine Relief Offering in your church. The resources include:
  • Bulletin Announcements
  • Bulletin Insert: These A5 flyers are designed so you can simply copy and insert into your bulletin.
  • Pulpit Announcement: Please read out during announcement time at your church on May 24.
  • Children's Activity Guide: Includes activities and Bible-based stories for use in your kindy, primary and junior Sabbath school classes.
  • Poster: Please post in your church to promote the Disaster and Famine Relief Offering.
  • Sermon: Includes a complete sermon prepared by Clifford Goldstein to be presented at your church on 24 May.
The offering is collected once a year in Seventh-day Adventist Churches across Australia. This year it will be collected on 24 May 2008. You can also donate to the Disaster and Famine Relief Fund online or by calling 1800 242 372.
