ADRA Sponsors Disaster Simulation event in Nepal

After consideration of the current severe flooding disaster in South Asia which affected Nepal, Bangaladesh and India, the Disaster Simulation Design Team has consulted with the participants and has taken a decision to postpone the event until the current response is completed. At this stage mid-November has been proposed.


Wahroonga, New South Wales — On August 22, emergency managers and teams from Nepal, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will assemble in Kathmandu for a unique training event: a simulation exercies for a sudden-onset disaster.

This training and simulation is being sponsored by ADRA Australia and Caritas Australia under the AusAID- funded Australian NGO and local partner capacity building programme. Funding for this program is provided by AusAID, ADRA and Caritas.

The goal for this programme is to build the capacity of the Caritas and ADRA Networks in South Asian countries to respond to major disasters and to stengthern local disaster response networks and inter-agency relationships.
