Education
What ADRA is doing…
Believing that education is the single most effective means of empowering individuals to break the poverty cycle, ADRA Australia designs programs that meet basic educational needs of children and adults, primarily women. A mother's literacy directly correlates with the health and well being of her
family. Education activities take many forms including primary education for children, basic literacy and numeracy training, basic education for adults, in-service teacher training, secondary education and support for tertiary training institutions.
Many youth in Papua New Guinea, women in Cambodia, children in Mongolia, and Indigenous communities in Western Australia, will attest to a newly-recognised dignity from learning to read and write. Women, children and communities now have a brighter future because of an ADRA Australia literacy project.
