ADRA, Sanitarium team up in Fiji
4 April, 2016
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has partnered with Sanitarium Health and Wellbeing to deliver more food aid to hungry communities following Cyclone Winston in Fiji. Boxes of Weet-Bix and So Good were donated by Sanitarium for ADRA to deliver to people most in need. More than 620 families received packs of Weet-Bix and So Good soy milk. In total, 2268 cartons of So Good and 3568 packets of Weet-Bix were distributed.
The distributions were initially planned for evacuation centres in Ba and Tavua. But reports gathered from the emergency operation centre in Rakiraki indicated reported loss in weight in children under five years of age. In light of these reports, the distributions were targeted towards beneficiaries from isolated communities that missed out on the earlier food pack and WASH kits distributions. 354 children from 15 remote villages were amongst the thousands of people who benefited. ADRA has now delivered urgent food and hygiene assistance to more than 10,000 people in Fiji since Cyclone Winston struck Fiji in February.
