ADRA & You – June
30 June, 2021
A Message from the CEO
Wow! June is always a crazy time. And that has never been more true than this year.
I want to start by saying a big THANK YOU for your support of our End of Financial Year campaign. We put out a call for support to reach our goal. It was crucial that we hit our target so that we could continue to run our programs in the Pacific, Asia, Africa and at home in Australia.
And guess what? You did it! Together, we reached our goal, enabling us to continue to reach people like Wilson and help them look forward to a brighter future. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
But that is not all that happened in the month of June. Below are some updates from the field! Thank you for your support in making all of this possible.
CEO, ADRA Australia & New Zealand
Op Shop Highlight
ADRA Australia has 28 op shops across the country.
This month, we are excited to share the work of Busselton Op Shop in WA. Their Op Shop Manager, Jennie Walker, shares with us the different trials her team has had to overcome for the successful running of their shop. You can read all about their journey of faith here.
End of Financial Year
We are so thankful for the generous support of people just like you during our End of Financial Year appeal. Together, we reached our goal, enabling us to continue to reach people like Wilson and help them rise out of poverty and look forward to a brighter future.
Storm Response in Victoria
In mid-June, a damaging storm struck Melbourne. With widespread power and phone outages and damage, ADRA teams in multiple locations were activated to help respond. The team in Croydon was featured by Channel 9 News for their disaster response.
Updates in Vanuatu
A family counselling centre in Etas area has been established as part of our Blossom project, with the full backing of the Vanuatu government and the Vanuatu Seventh-day Adventist Church. “Through our work with the Vanuatu Correctional Services, statistics have shown that Etas would be well suited to hosting such a counselling centre,” says ADRA Project Manager Danielle Masoe.
