Sonshine Sanctuary is a crisis accommodation centre for women and children made homeless by family violence. Sonshine offers accommodation, support and advocacy in a safe place, making a life-changing difference for families affected by violence.
Sonshine provides over 30,000 hours of service delivery to women and children each year. Some activities include supplying a welcoming food hamper to each family coming into residence, helping pay for school books, school fees and school uniforms, providing free access to phone and internet services, and providing transport to appointments.
Sonshine has developed a tailored program which strengthens the individual woman to become a stronger, independent, confident, and resilient member of the community. For those families not returning home or not leaving the area, women are often provided with furnishings for their new home on leaving the refuge.
