A message from our CEO, Paul Rubessa.

The spread of COVID-19 has affected the way that many people go about their daily lives. I hope you are staying safe and well.

The good news is you are still helping people, despite the virus.

Around the world, ADRA works with local partners on the ground so that we may have the greatest and most immediate impact in helping others rise out of poverty.

Even with the necessarily tight travel restrictions in place, ADRA’s work and your support continue to change lives in Australia and overseas.

In Australia, ADRA Op Shops and Community Centres are operating as usual, helping Aussies who have fallen on hard times and are more likely to be affected by the virus. ADRA Australia’s direct response to COVID-19 is currently centred in Western Australia where ADRA is anticipated to manage accommodation inquiries, food parcel deliveries and welfare checks if the situation there warrants this response. And overseas, our projects are actively helping communities prevent and prepare for the impact of COVID-19.

Improving hygiene and sanitation is a key focus in many of the ADRA projects, even without the virus.

Across Africa, Asia and the South Pacific, your support is helping teach children and parents alike the importance of potentially life-saving hygiene practices like hand washing.

It is my prayer that you stay healthy and well.

Blessings,

Paul Rubessa
CEO ADRA Australia

P.S. To minimise the spread of the virus, and as is our social responsibility, our ADRA head office staff are temporarily working remotely.
