Catastrophic flooding, huge earthquakes and devastating hurricanes are affecting millions of people from Nepal to Mexico.

With a vast international network, ADRA is able to respond comprehensively to almost every disaster. Here is a summary:

Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma

In the Caribbean, ADRA is conducting rapid assessments to determine the most significant needs after one of the fiercest category 5 storms. The response is anticipated to include distributing shelter kits and tarps, mosquito nets and hygiene kits. In Florida, ADRA is working closely with the SDA Church and emergency response authorities in the affected areas.

Torrential monsoon rains have affected almost 40 million people in the South-Asia region including Bangladesh, India and Nepal. At least 1,200 people are known to have died, with thousands of houses, schools and hospitals damaged.

ADRA Australia has contributed to the global ADRA network response in Nepal, which is providing shelter, food, bedding and kitchen kits to 620 flood affected families. In Bangladesh, ADRA has distributed cash vouchers to people affected by the ongoing severe flooding in Dinajpur district.

Mexico Earthquake

Mexico earthquake 2

On Friday, a massive 8.2 magnitude earthquake rocked Mexico, killing dozens of people and affecting millions of others. ADRA Mexico is currently conducting a needs assessment but initial reports indicate water, shelter and food will be priorities. At this stage, there has yet to be a request for funds from ADRA Mexico.

As the situation in all of these disaster zones is rapidly changing, please keep the people and ADRA staff in the affected countries in your prayers.
