Press Release:
CAN DO Marks World Humanitarian Day 2025: Supporting Your Neighbour Is the Most Powerful Arsenal for Peace
On this World Humanitarian Day, CAN DO—a consortium of nine church-based aid agencies with a collective reach across all regions of the world—joins the global community in celebrating the theme: “Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities.”
As humanitarian needs continue to rise across the globe, CAN DO recognises that supporting your neighbour is the most powerful arsenal for peace. Whether responding to natural disasters, displacement, or conflict, humanitarian workers embody the spirit of compassion and resilience that binds communities together.
“There will always be a need for humanitarian work,” said Chey Mattner, CAN DO Director, “but there will also always be people willing to serve, to stand in solidarity, and to uplift those in crises.”
CAN DO and its partners work hand-in-hand with local communities to deliver life-saving aid, rebuild livelihoods, and foster long-term recovery. Their faith-driven approach ensures that dignity, hope, and justice remain at the centre of every response.
CAN DO is supported by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP).
